It gives me great pleasure to welcome all competitors, officials, friends, families and supporters back to the Fair City of Perth. As many of you will know, Perth and Kinross has great historic links with curling, and we are delighted to host the City of Perth Ladies International Championships in Perth again.
It has been an exciting year for ladies curling, and just last week the European Championships concluded in Tallinn, Estonia. We are delighted the European Bronze medal winning team from Germany are competing with us this weekend, many congratulations from us all! Whilst we didn’t bring a medal home this time, Team Muirhead continue to be such wonderful ambassadors, not only for the sport of curling, but for Perth and Kinross as well.
Unfortunately they are unable to join us in Perth this time as they are busy with World Cup action, and I am sure you will all join me in wishing them well.
Nonetheless, we have an exciting weekend of curling ahead of us and we are delighted to welcome 10 teams to compete from Germany, Norway, Russia, Switzerland and Scotland. I would like to extend you all my best wishes for an enjoyable weekend here in the Fair City and wish all competitors every success – may the best team win!
