International teams take the lead after opening session

Japan, Germany, England and Canada slipped into an early lead after the opening session at the City Of Perth Ladies International. Here’s hoping the Scots in this evening’s session can even up the score!

Section A – Team Sweeting took an early 3 stone lead in their game against Scotland’s Karina Aitken. Despite a valiant comeback – the Scots lost 3-5. Katie Murray’s young Scottish team got off to a good start against England’s Anna Fowler with a 2 at the first end – but then lost the next five ends, including a 3 at the 6th end to eventually lose the game 3-7.

In Section B – Japan’s Ogasawara were evenly matched by Norway’s Skaslien, swapping 1s for the first 4 ends – but with 3 against them at the 7th, Skaslien decided the game was over 3-6 to the Japanese rink.

Meanwhile – in Section D – Germany’s Team Driendl snatched a 3 at the 4th end and drove the advantage home to win 6-3 against Lauren Gray
