Provost’s welcome to Perth

Provost Liz Grant

It gives me great pleasure to welcome all competitors, officials, friends, families and supporters to the City of Perth for this year’s EDF Energy City of Perth Ladies International. I am delighted to say we had a very successful year last year with 20 teams competing in the inaugural championships. I would like to give a very special welcome to the 24 teams competing this year, joining us from Finland, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, England, USA, Poland, Japan, and of course Scotland.

Perth and Kinross has great historic links with Curling. The traditional start to each year is the Mercure City of Perth Masters, and with its large delegation of overseas players and supporters, it truly gives Perth an international start to the year. I am delighted that the EDF Energy City of Perth Ladies International has returned to Perth again this year and has attracted a high calibre of top teams to compete.

I would like to extend you all my best wishes for an enjoyable weekend here in the Fair City and I wish all competitors every success – may the best team win!
